Located in the very heart of Milan Park, this botanical garden is a haven of peace and colours, especially in autumn. Its greenhouse, plants and trees as well as its private gardens let me loose myself for a few hours. Then, to quench my thirst, I head to the popular Montriond Café, a veritable hub for meetings.

Lausanne happens to be a very green city, full of parks and surrounded by nature, but if you would like something more exotic, I recommend visiting the botanical garden in Milan Park, and more specifically the greenhouse. What with a hundred or so different exotic species, the small greenhouse transports us elsewhere. A table is even available on the first floor in case you’d like to stay despite the heat.

From springtime, when nature wakes up gradually, to wintertime, when the new greenhouse offers a welcome shelter among tropical plants, the Botanical Garden is the perfect place for a quiet wander in all seasons.

Located on the Montriond hill, a short walk from the station and the lake, it is home to some 6,000 plants from all over the world. In addition to its living collection, it has a large regional botanical collection and is involved in initiatives to protect endangered flora. There are regular events for young and old, especially during the holidays.

Free of charge and right in the heart of Lausanne, the Botanical Garden is a breath of fresh air for nature lovers.
